Advisory board

Each partner country consults with an Advisory Group, consisting of five or more experts in racism and migration in the employment field, drawn from relevant employer, trade union, community and political organisations. They will be invited to all formal meetings of each national Project Research Team.

Dr Gargi Bhattacharyya

Gargi is Senior Lecturer in Cultural Politics and Religion at the University of Birmingham. She sits on the national executive of her union, AUT, and co-ordinates the black and minority ethnic members network. She is a member of the TUC Race Relations Committee and works with a number of community and anti-racist organisations in the Birmingham area.

Geraldine Healy

Geraldine is Professor of Employment Relations and Director of the Centre for Research in Employment Studies (CRES) at the University of
Hertfordshire. She has researched extensively on issues of discrimination and employment. She has recently completed an ESRC Future of Work-funded project on 'A Double Disadvantage: Minority Ethnic Women in Trade Unions' with Harriet Bradley, Bristol University.

Forthcoming projects funded by the European Social Fund include 'Challenging Occupational Segregation: the experience of young black workers in traditional and high technology industries' and 'Challenging Discrimination in the Health Services'.

Geraldine is a member of Natfhe, the Lecturers' Union.

Claude Moraes

Claude is a Member of the European Parliament for London.

Wilf Sullivan

UNISON National Black Members Officer

Wilf Sullivan originally worked in Local Government. Initially doing social work with adolescents and subsequently as a Principal Personnel Officer Personnel Officer for the London Borough of Haringey in the 1980’s. During this time he was an active lay trade union official becoming one of the first black union Branch Secretary’s in local authorities the mid 1980’s

He was employed as a full-time Union official in 1990 and worked for UNISON as a Regional Officer in the Greater London Region until 2000 when he became the National Black Members Officer for UNISON. He is a member of the TUC Race Relations Committee, a Executive member of the National Assembly Against Racism and a board member of the UK Race & Europe Network.
