Laboratory of Training and Research on Immigration
The Laboratory of Training and Research on Immigration was established in 1997 to meet the growing demands for vocational and cultural training that derive from immigration processes.
The importance of the immigration phenomenon in Italy is due both to its quantitative expansion and to its qualitative implications. In fact, the rise in the number of immigrants today affects all sectors of working and social life, leading to an increase in the demands made on all service infrastructures. The Laboratory avails itself of the experience and contribution of professors and researchers working in a variety of academic fields, both at the University of Venice and at other universities in Italy and abroad.
The activities of the Laboratory consist of:
a) The Masters in Immigration, established in 1999 in collaboration with the Faculté de Sciences Politiques et de Sociologie of the Université Paris - VIII and the Haute Ecole Spécialisée d’Etudes Sociales et Pédagogiques of Lausanne, views migration as a phenomenon that is faceted but also unitary, which can be adequately dealt with only through an effort of overall understanding and a method of interdisciplinary investigation; its educative and operative logic is directed toward the full social integration of immigrants and the acceptance of interculturalism.
b) The research on the field of severals dimensions of immigration, racism, cultural pluralism. The most important experiences of field research:
Professor of Methodology of the Social Sciences, of Deviancy Sociology, supervisor of the Laboratory on Immigration, and chairman of the committee of the Masters in Immigration at the University of Venice.
Temporary professor of Sociology of Migrations, chairman of the Laboratory of Training and Research on Immigration, and Director of Didactics of the Masters in Immigration at the University of Venice.
Research assistant at the Laboratory of Training and Research on Immigration, she confers a degree on the Oriental Languages and Arabic Civilizations.
Current research: integration of Maghreb’s immigrants in Italy
Research assistant at the Laboratory of Training and Research on Immigration and works in the Didactics Office of the Masters in Immigration at the University of Venice.
He has collaborated with Istituto di Scienze dell’Educazione, University of Florence, (Prof. G. Campani) to the research Migrant policy (MIGPOL).
